Saravanan "Suriya" Sivakumar (Tamil: சரவணன் "சூர்யா" சிவகுமார்) (born 23 July 1975) is an award-winning Tamil film actor and dubbing artist. Son of actor Sivakumar, he starred in several films, such as Nandha, Kaakha Kaakha, Ghajini, Perazhagan, Pithamagan, Vaaranam Aayiram and Ayan. As of 2009, he has won three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and three Filmfare Awards. He became a film distributor after opening Studio Green, which distributed several of his earlier films. He married actress Jyothika Saravanan in 2006, after being engaged for several years. In 2008, he began ew Page 1Agaram Foundation, which funds for preventing early childhood drop-outs.
He married Jyothika on 11 September 2006. The couple have two children, daughter Diya (born August 10, 2007 ) and son Dev (born June 7, 2010)
Early life
Suriya Sivakumar was born to actor Sivakumar and his wife Lakshmi on 23 July 1975. He was born in Chennai, but brought up in Coimbatore. He is the eldest of three children, his younger brother is actor Karthik Sivakumar and he has a younger sister named Brindha Sivakumar. Surya's height is 5.6 feet. He attended Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan School and St. Bede's School in Chennai and graduated from Loyola College with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He was working in a garment factory at Tiruppur before entering the film industry.

Maatraan
Maatraan is an upcoming Tamil film directed by K. V. Anand starring Surya in the lead role. Scripted by writers Subha along with K. V. Anand, it will feature music by Harris Jayaraj.
Maatraan is currently in its pre-production stage and slated for release in 2012.
